Help! What do I wear ? Business/Corporate Headshots

Business/Corporate Headshots- Help!  What do I wear ?

Now you have booked your professional headshot photography session, the next thought that usually comes to mind is “What do I wear?”

A headshot is exactly that – a photograph of your head. So the focus will be from your mid-chest upwards. Not a lot of your outfit will feature; however, what you wear can impact the outcome of your photos.

Plain colours are your best choice. Patterns or prints can be distracting and date your photo’s quickly. Light or flesh tone colours can blend your face with your clothes, so try to look for mid-tone colours in shades of blue, green and purple. These colours are universally flattering and don’t trend in and out of fashion too much.

Replace black with richer neutrals like chocolate, navy, maroon and forest green. Black is safe and guarded, not likely the vibe you want to project. A fail-safe tip is to pick a top that accentuates your eyes.

Collared shirts are the best option for men, however a collar can be hard to style on a woman, so choose a v-neck or round neckline that will “frame” your face, this simple neckline will look sleek and modern.

You can keep your photo from looking “seasonal” by adding a suit jacket or blazer over the top.

Above all your clothes must be clean, wrinkle-free and fit properly. Avoid clothes that are too tight when you are standing or sitting down.

If you feel comfortable and confident in your outfit it will reflect in your headshot!
